Shade of Miti
A small-scale, ecological farm in Caledon, Ontario that specializes in South Asian vegetables, such as bitter melon and okra. Advocacy and education are at the heart of our work <3

Shade of Miti is in relation with the sacred Treaty Lands and traditional territories of many nations including the Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Huron-Wendat and Wyandot Nations, and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. We recognize the many Nations of Indigenous People who currently live on this land, continue to hunt, gather and care for this land. We also acknowledge the many people of African descent who are not settlers, but whose ancestors were forcibly displaced in the transatlantic and domestic slave trade and made to work these lands. These communities have influenced and continue to take leadership on aspects of our society, such as fair employment practices, inclusive immigration practices, the preservation of farmland and the continuing fight for racial equity, that benefit us all. Our work is guided by food justice and food sovereignty principles. We remain committed to Indigenous sovereignty and Black liberation through relational work.
